Founder Gil Lavigueure grew up in the Snoqualmie Valley building boats with his father. The boat shop, called “Eastside Boats,” was located in the town of Duvall and specialized in building sport fishing boats made of wood and fiberglass. After graduating from Tolt High School in 1979, he ran the boat shop for a time while also working summers fishing in Alaska. Later, Gil worked as a journeyman carpenter in the Seattle Carpenter’s Union until founding Pioneer Homes in 1992.
Since this time in the early 1990’s, Gil (operating as Pioneer Homes) has been designing and building new premium quality homes throughout the Seattle area. Sticking to certain principals and treating people the way he wants to be treated has helped him keep a good name for over 23 years. An ancient proverb says, “A good name is to be chosen rather than great wealth; To be respected is better than silver and gold.” (Proverbs 22:1)
With an emphasis on craftsmanship and attention to detail, Pioneer Homes has established a long lasting reputation of building innovative designs that fit the lifestyle of Pacific Northwest residents. Honesty and integrity are qualities he feels are an important part of this reputation. Thus, Gil does his best to make his “Yes” a yes, and his “No” a no, when it comes to commitments, following through on what he says, even when it is difficult.
